This past August, the L.A.K.E. Enterprises team welcomed twenty-four-year-old Caleb Pearson to our team. While his strong work ethic and desire to learn piqued our interest, it was his team-oriented mindset that really sealed the deal. Our business is growing rapidly. So we have to be intentional about who we bring on board. We need someone who isn’t afraid to think big. Who doesn’t balk about stepping into a leadership role. Someone who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Lucky for us, Caleb checked all of these boxes.
A Lubbock, TX, native, Caleb was never afraid of venturing out of his comfort zone. After high school, he made an attempt at college while working part-time and quickly realized he was on the wrong path; this led him to try his hand at a few different full-time positions while living in three different states – Colorado, Florida, and Utah. His journey eventually led him back to Texas, where he discovered L.A.K.E. Enterprises and his passion for our business. Viewing the opportunity laid out in front of him as “once in a lifetime,” he has given his all from day one to be his best possible self.
Caleb’s progress over the past five months has been a privilege to witness. To celebrate his hard work, we decided to sit down with him for a quick Q&A so that he can voice his goals aloud and hopefully inspire you to take action towards your professional aspirations this year!
Caleb, let’s start by talking about your growth since starting with us! How has your career grown in the past few months?
My career has grown in many ways, the biggest being my mindset and determination.
As you continue to sharpen your mind and grow your list of skills, what goals are you aiming to achieve?
I am working to be promoted to Assistant Manager. On top of this, my short-term goals are to continue building a strong team and to end the year with $100,000 in profit. My long-term goals are to run my own office, have a beautiful family, and take care of them for the rest of my life.
We love that your goals always involve helping others! Speaking of building your team, can you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is to cheer you on and hype you up! I like to lead how I like to receive. I will definitely hold you accountable, but I like to give praise when praise is due.
“Try and see the positives in life. There is a reason you are going through whatever the world is putting you through right now, and you will come out stronger than before.”
When interviewing candidates, what values are you looking for?
Some values that are important to me in a teammate are resiliency, hard work, and proficiency.
You are such a supportive leader in our office, Caleb! Your welcoming attitude makes such a difference.
What is your favorite thing about working here at L.A.K.E. Enterprises?
My favorite thing about this company is the family-oriented aspect of it all. My family is eight hours away. So it’s nice to have people that treat and love me like family.
Is this what drew you to work with us?
What drew me in were the growth opportunities and the places this company could take my family and me.
What would you say has been your greatest accomplishment to date?
Moving away from all of my family and friends, finding out who I really was, and meeting people who have changed everything for me and made me the man I am today.
As we’ve mentioned, you’ve grown a lot since starting with us this past August. How do you measure your performance and success?
By setting goals for promotions, productions, and just life in general and then seeing how fast I can hit them.
Caleb, your extroverted, committed attitude has made you such an aspirational leader here at L.A.K.E. Enterprises. Can you share one piece of advice for those just kick-starting their careers?
Have a student mindset and understand the opportunities you have in front of you.
Would you recommend our career style to them?
I would recommend this career style to anyone! Young, old, inexperienced, experienced, it doesn’t matter. If you have the mindset for it and are willing to put in the necessary work, do it!!
Caleb, thank you for showing up every day, ready to succeed. Your presence has made such a positive impact on our team, and we appreciate everything you do! L.A.K.E. Enterprises wouldn’t be the same without you. We are confident that you’ll be running the show in no time, and we’re excited to do our part in helping you get there!
